Wanting to cherish the diverse heritage of the islands, Helena Josephs; the sole owner of Island Flavors and Tings, has found the right balance between savory and bright dishes locals have come to love.

An award-winning entrepreneur and female chef from Jamaica, Helena has been recognized by the media, government officials and civic organizations for her commitment to excellence in the food industry. Helena takes pride in ushering the flavors of the Caribbean to her restaurant and in her catering events. Her passion for bringing warm hospitality, fresh and delicious menu items is what keeps her customers coming back for more.

Helena is not only a successful business owner of Island Flavors and Tings and her catering company, The Caterer, but she is a community-focused resident of Pinellas County. She has donated resources to local nonprofits and utilizes local and regional vendors to help other small businesses grow.

Helena catered a celebration of life for 50 folks. She did an incredible job. The food was fabulous and fun!!!!!!!! The presentation was gorgeous!!!!!!!! And their presence was easy and unobtrusive. Found a little slice of heaven that serves some of the best Jamaican food you can find in Gulf Port. The food will have your taste buds dancing for joy. I tried a dish called "A Little Bit of Everything" and I am so happy that I did. On my plate was a little bit of everything from the menu, my fingers were having so much fun dancing all over the plate eager to bring each piece of food up to my mouth. Next time you are in the Gulf Port area stop in and give your senses a real treat. The folks who run the place are so friendly, seems like they know everyone by name that walks in the front door. A true hidden gem that should not be missed.

The food is amazing! The price is very good also. I have tried a lot of Jamaican restaurants in this area. Island Flavors is by far the BEST!! Also the decor is beautiful and everything seems fresh and clean. Has a beautiful island vibe to it. Great food. Great ambiance. Give it a try. 🙂

Having a Caribbean background this is truly one of the best places to get down home Jamaican soul food. I recommend the mango bread and everything else on the menu. Truly one of the best Caribbean restaurants around. The owner is also good at catering events. She made a giant mango bread for my grandmother's funeral and needless to say I came home with none. Everybody loved it.

I can’t even begin to describe the amazing experience I had at the restaurant. The atmosphere is super friendly, the staff is phenomenal and my server was the attentive and passionate server I’ve ever had in my entire life. Thank you Leslie. Now the food... the food was so exquisite. I can’t even put it into words. The presentation was simply gorgeous. If I lived in FL, I would be here every week to say the least. I didn’t catch the chef's name but I appreciate what you do, because it is inexplicably delicious. Thank you Helena for making this experience for us! ❤️👌🏼👌🏼
